I am a member of: I have been interested in helping people cope with difficulties in their lives since my teens. Since then I have found friends and family coming to me and telling me about their problems, I would help as best I could. I began to train as a counsellor in 1995 and to work with clients in 1996, to be of help to more people, and to develop and improve the help I offer. The approach I use is called ‘Person-Centred’, or ‘Client-Centred’ counselling. This approach was developed by Carl Rogers in the 1940’s and 50’s as he tried to find better ways of working with people in distress. Please see my page ‘My Philosophy’ for more about this approach. I work one-to-one with adults
and young people on an open-ended basis both in West Byfleet,
Surrey and at HYCS (Hounslow Youth
Counselling Service). You can find out about the way I work
on my page ‘How I work’ Apart from the
counselling work, I also offer supervision to other counsellors.
Please look at my page ‘Supervision’
for information if you are looking for a supervisor. I am also a
qualified teacher of Family Effectiveness Training, a method of
improving communication and behaviour within families developed
by Dr. Thomas Gordon. You can read about this programme on
www.gordontraining.com
and see my page ‘FET’ for information about courses. |
