I have been interested in helping people cope with difficulties in their lives since my teens. Since then I have found friends and family coming to me and telling me about their problems, I would help as best I could. I began to train as a counsellor in 1995 and to work with clients in 1996, to be of help to more people, and to develop and improve the help I offer. The approach I use is called ‘Person-Centred’, or ‘Client-Centred’ counselling. Carl Rogers developed this approach in the 1940’s and 50’s as he tried to find better ways of working with people in distress. Please see my page ‘My Philosophy’ for more about this approach. I have recently added the practice of EMDR to my work as I believe it works extremely well in certain situations such as trauma, phobias and at other times when clients may be stuck in a way of thinking or feeling about themselves. Please see my EMDR page to learn more.

I work one-to-one with adults and young people on an open-ended basis both in West Byfleet, Surrey and at HYCS (Hounslow Youth Counselling Service). You can find out about the way I work on my page ‘How I work’ Apart from the counselling work, I also offer supervision to other counsellors. Please look at my page ‘Supervision’ for information if you are looking for a supervisor. I am also a qualified teacher of Family Effectiveness Training, a method of improving communication and behaviour within families developed by Dr. Thomas Gordon. You can read about this programme on www.gordontraining.com and see my page ‘FET’ for information about courses.

I am married and have lived abroad as an ex-pat for 20 years in the USA and Europe. I have 2 adult children who live in the USA. I speak conversational French.
